Aidan Gold, speaking percussion

This is a piece for Speaking Percussionist based on a mesostic poem that I wrote. The poem consists of quotations from conversations, which are associated with musical quotations that identify each quote with the person who is quoted.

The subject of the poem is depression and the way the brain reinterprets and transforms things it remembers others have told it about depression. The performer is literally trapped in their own world, surrounded by instruments, and the quoted statements are often jumbled up and fragmented by the performer as they are spoken, and sometimes they are buried under the sound of the instruments.
