This piece sets the poem Showdown in the San Fernando Valley by Krishna Narayanamurti, for Soprano voice, Percussion, and Piano. It is a fast, energetic, humorous piece that uses a thunder tube as a hand drum that maintains an irregular pulse that sets the tone for the piece. After building to a huge emotional climax, the piece subsides peacefully as the rhythms slow down and lose energy.
